Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) / Academic Student Employee (ASE) Hiring
Here is the information you need to know to initiate the appointment request process for Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) and Academic Student Employees (ASEs) for the Summer 2017 (GSRs only) and Fall 2017 (all titles) semesters. (The ASE category includes titles such as Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs), Acting Instructor-Graduate Students (AI-GS), Graduate Student Readers, and Student Tutors.)
The process remains the same: Graduate Student Affairs Officers (GSAOs), or any other department personnel authorized to coordinate graduate student hiring, are responsible for initiating the request via the online Smartsheet tool for their department. You can also use the Smartsheet to track the progress of your appointment requests.
To initiate appointments for GSRs and ASEs that start on January 1, 2017 or beyond, continue to use your department’s Grad Hiring Smartsheet-2017-2018. (GSAOs/initiators were provided access to this Smartsheet. After logging in with your CalNet ID, navigate to your specific department Smartsheet from the “Home” tab).
