Recognition and Rewards

As part of BRS’ commitment to focus on our staff, we want to continue to recognize our staff for exemplary behaviors and reward them for outstanding performance and dedication to our clients, campus partners, and to each other. We embody a culture of recognition, both informal and formal.

Here's some ways to recognize:

It’s easy to informally recognize someone by taking a moment to personalize and give them a Berkeley thank you card. Drop by the display at Fourth St. on the 3rd floor, by office #333 and pick up a supply.

If you’d like to reward someone at BRS – for a larger achievement (whether you work at BRS or work at a unit on campus), consider nominating them for a SPOT Award, as part of Berkeley’s Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards Program. It’s easy to nominate someone; just use this nomination form. Nominations should include details about the accomplishments and how it connects to Berkeley's "Achieve Together" criteria.

How do the awards work in each region?

Each BRS region now manages the respective awards for their regional staff. If you have questions, contact the Regional Director or your manager/supervisor for information on how regional award nominations and the process works.

Spot Awards are part of Berkeley’s “Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards” program. The Recognition page of the UC Berkeley People and Culture website contains a full summary of the Spot Awards, including Criteria & Eligibility, Nomination Form, and FAQ’s.
