About CSS Research Administration (RA)
CSS RA provides customized support to faculty and principal investigators across the UC Berkeley Campus. For the 2013-2014 fiscal year, UC Berkeley received over $730 million in research contracts and grants, which represents about one-third of the overall campus budget.
CSS RAs help facilitate the research associated with grants. RAs develop and/or oversee research proposals, awards, and transactions related to contract and grant management. They also maintain records in compliance with institutional and research sponsored policies. And, they help UC Berkeley Principal Investigators focus on the technical aspects of their research by managing much of the administrative work involved in their grants. They also work as a liaison between other internal departments and work effectively with their external counterparts.
