As part of CSS’ commitment to focus on our staff, we want to continue to recognize our staff for exemplary behaviors and reward them for outstanding performance and dedication to our clients, campus partners, and to each other. We embody a culture of recognition, both informal and formal:
- It’s easy to recognize someone by taking a moment to personalize and give them a thank you card. Drop by the display at Fourth Street on the 3rd floor, by office #333 and pick up a supply. If you’re unable to drop by in person, email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Use the “High Fives” Program to nominate a colleague to receive an Amazon gift card. Your nomination can be submitted by clicking on this link ~ take a few moments and fill out the form.
More formal ways:
If you’d like to reward someone at CSS – for a larger achievement (whether you work at CSS or work at a unit on campus), consider nominating them for a SPOT Award, as part of Berkeley’s Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards Program.
The nomination period for the current round of SPOT Awards is now OPEN (this is the last round for FY19)! Submit a nomination anytime between now and February 5 for a fellow colleague who went above and beyond to provide stellar service to you and/or UC Berkeley. It’s easy to nominate someone; just send the nomination form to email@example.com. Nominations should include details about the accomplishments and how it connects to the Operating Principles. If you have additional questions, send a note to the email address above.
We will continue our current cadence and are suspending Achievement Awards so more individuals can be recognized. Instead, CSS will use the full recognition budget exclusively for SPOT Awards. Spot Awards ($500) are intended to recognize exemplary performance to a specific project or task in a relatively short time period while demonstrating the Operating Principles for administrative operations.
Background information: SPOT Awards are part of Berkeley’s “Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards” program. The UC Berkeley Human Resources (HR) website contains a full summary of the Awards, including Criteria & Eligibility, Nomination Form, and FAQ’s.
