Campus Shared Services (CSS) is currently undergoing a restructuring effort to align with a campus initiative to create service regions for improving administration. It is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018. CSS will provide services to specific “groupings/clusters” of academic or administrative units (5 academic, 1 all other). (Check out the current “Roadmap” developed for CSS staff which shows the structure and restructure progress.) This regional approach to providing administrative services will improve service quality by re-establishing personal connections and to develop more local expertise.
The restructuring of CSS staff across areas of research administration, human resources/ academic personnel support, and purchasing and reimbursements will enable better collaboration amongst the teams to serve faculty and units through these six (6) regional service centers:
FYI – Some services like Benefits, Visas, new employee Onboarding, etc., will continue to be provided to campus as a part of CSS Central Support; not by individual regions.
In January 2019, CSS IT was realigned to the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and rebranded as IT Client Services. The group continues to provide IT support and provisioning to the Berkeley campus; no changes to those services as a result of the realignment.
